Recommendations By Use - Marine, Sailing

Before magnification or style is even considered the first feature any marine use binocular needs is to be a waterproof design. The majority of models we supply are splash-proof but the term waterproof is only used for items that can be fully submerged without damaging the instrument. This is not true for all retailers so be sure to ask the question before purchasing.

For use onboard a boat or ship low – medium power is essential for a stable image. A 7x50 is the classic marine binocular but if a little more magnification is required consider 8x56 or 8.5x50. Brightness is also a major factor so stick to models with a minimum objective lens diameter of 50mm.

A flotation strap could be a useful accessory, especially with more expensive models.
