Astronomy, Night Sky Observation Light gathering is essential for viewing the night sky, models with objectives lenses of 50mm minimum should be considered. A good quality 7x50 would be the most economical model or specifications designed for low light work such as 8x56 or 9x63. Alternatively consider a high quality spotting scope. This will give much higher power and will require at least a 70mm objective lens. Anti-UV coatings should be avoided for astronomy and night sky viewing. Some retailers claim the ruby coating seen on some models gives night working capabilities but the opposite is true. Please visit the Technical Guide for
more detail regarding features of optical instruments.
